SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior forward Nicole Michael has been named the ECAC Winter Player of the Week, as announced on February 9. Michael averaged 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in Syracuse's two BIG EAST victories last week, including its 87-80 overtime win at Pittsburgh where she became Syracuse's all-time leading scorer.
The senior registered a game-high 27 points and a team-best 10 rebounds in Syracuse's win against the Panthers on Feb. 2. She became SU's all-time leading scorer as she surpassed Julie McBride's scoring mark of 1,605 when she sank a free throw with 1:37 remaining to pull the Orange within two points, 72-70, of Pittsburgh. She then sent the game to overtime with a layup with 30 second left in regulation.
The Queens, N.Y. native led the Orange for her second consecutive game when she recorded a game-high 18 points in Syracuse's 69-60 victory against Marquette on Feb. 6 at the Carrier Dome. She added six rebounds and one assist in her 31 minutes.
The Syracuse women's basketball team returns home to host the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, February 13 at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Network.
