
Orange Achieves Another First

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University ice hockey team became the first college team to test the ice at the New York State Fairgrounds when it held practice at the outdoor rink on Tuesday, Feb. 16. The Orange will be on hand for the first AHL outdoor game in history when the Syracuse Crunch take on the Binghamton Senators for the Mirabito Outdoor Classic on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m.
In just its second season, the Orange is 17-14-1 and has achieved a No. 10 ranking in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. Syracuse concludes its regular season slate when it travels to top-ranked Mercyhurst on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. for a two-game conference set. It will be the final contest before SU competes in the College Hockey America (CHA) Tournament, which is set to begin on Thurs., March 4.
