
Orange Announces BIG EAST Schedule

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 2010-11 women's basketball BIG EAST schedule was announced today. The Orange, led by head coach Quentin Hillsman, will take on conference rivals in 16 games, seven of which are against teams that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament.
Season-ticket packages for Syracuse University basketball are on sale to new season-ticket holders at the Carrier Dome Box Office and online at www.suathletics.com.
Syracuse women's season tickets are priced as follows:
· Courtside Adults – $125
· General Admission/Adults – $90
· General Admission/Current Men's Basketball Season Ticket Holders – $75
· General Admission/Youth (12 and under) – $45
· General Admission/Senior (60 and over) – $45
Single-game sales will start on Wednesday, October 13, at 10 a.m.
The Orange begins its BIG EAST challenge on the road against Georgetown on Tuesday, January 4, and follows it up four days later with Seton Hall inside the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome. The Hoyas defeated SU in overtime last year, but rebounded to defeat the Pirates by 41.
Syracuse remains at home to host Rutgers on Tuesday, January 11 before beginning a two-game road trip. The Orange defeated the Scarlet Knights twice last season by a combined 44 points.
SU will be tested as it travels to West Virginia on Saturday, January 15 and Marquette on Saturday, January 22. The Mountaineers advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament while the Golden Eagles accomplished the same feat in the WNIT.
Next, Syracuse will host Pittsburgh on Wednesday, January 26 and South Florida on Saturday, January 29. The Orange defeated the Panthers, 87-80, last season. The Bulls are coming off a WNIT appearance.
SU travels to Notre Dame on Tuesday, February 1 and Rutgers on Sunday, February 6. The Irish advanced to the Sweet 16, while the Scarlet Knights lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Syracuse returns home for three games against DePaul on Tuesday, February 8, Villanova on Saturday, February 12 and Louisville on Wednesday, February 16. The Blue Demons lost in the first round of last season's NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats were only one of five BIG EAST teams to finish below .500 last season. The Orange defeated the Cardinals, 64-58, last year in Freedom Hall.
SU heads to St. John's on Saturday, February 19 and Cincinnati on Tuesday, February 22. The Red Strom was a No. 6 seed in last year's NCAA Tournament. The Bear Cats finished 2009-10 with an overall record of 12-18.
The Orange hosts Providence in its final regular season home game of the year on Saturday, February 26. SU defeated the Friars in the second round of the BIG EAST Tournament last season.
Rounding out the BIG EAST Schedule is a trip to Storrs, Conn. for a battle with back-to-back national champion Connecticut on Monday, February 28.
All BIG EAST Syracuse home games will be played in the Carrier Dome. Game times are tentative and subject to change.
All 16 teams are invited to battle for the conference's automatic NCAA Tournament bid at the 2010-11 BIG EAST Championship at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., March 4-8.
