WASHINGTON, D.C. - After matching its program-best start with a 12-1 record in non-conference play, 23/rv Syracuse opens its BIG EAST schedule at 15/18 Georgetown (12-3, 0-1) on Tuesday, January 4 at 7 p.m.
The contest can be heard live on SU's flagship station ESPN 97.7 FM/1200 AM with Brian Higgins '04 on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on Syracuse's student station, WJPZ 89.1 FM. Live statistics and video is also available on GUHoyas.com.
Last Time Out
Syracuse matched its program-best start with a 91-56 victory against Arkansas Pine Bluff on Jan. 1
in the Carrier Dome. Three Orange tallied a double-double in the contest, led by sophomore center Kayla Alexander who had a game-best 21 points with 14 rebounds. It marked the fourth-consecutive 20-point game for the Milton, Ontario native.
Sophomore forward Elashier Hall was second on the team with 18 points and 14 rebounds while
junior forward Iasia Hemingway rounded out the group, pairing 14 points with 11 rebounds.
Scouting the Hoyas
15/18 Georgetown (12-3, 0-1) has two players averaging double-figures. Reigning BIG EAST
Conference Freshman of the Year Sugar Robinson leads the way with 18.2 points per game, good enough for second in the conference. Robinson's 2.3 3-pointers again rank fourth in the BIG EAST.
Monica McNutt is next with 10.5 point per contest. Robinson is also averaging a team-best 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. Tia McGee is right behind Robinson with 4.6 rebounds per contest. Rubylee Wright has recorded a team-high 5.3 assists per game, also good enough for second in the league.
The Hoyas have been ranked in the top-20 all season, Georgetown started the season ranked for
the first time in program history. Georgetown was selected to finish third in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches Poll, the highest the Hoyas have been picked under Williams-Flournoy.

Georgetown currently holds a 27-24 edge in the all-time series between the two BIG EAST rivals.
The Hoyas also hold a 24-21 advantage in the 45 regular-season meetings since the formation of the
BIG EAST women's basketball league in 1982-83.
Georgetown has held the edge in the series recently, winning seven of the last 10 matchups since Terri Williams-Flournoy took over at Georgetown before the 2004 season.
All of the last nine meetings have been decided by seven or less points with the last two encounters
being determined by one and two points, respectively.
