
Menard Helps Canada Blank Swiss 5-0

KREUZLINGEN, Switzerland – Sophomore Isabel Menard helped the Canadian National Women's Under-22 Team defeat Switzerland 5-0 in the opening round of the 2011 MLP Cup in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland on Tuesday.
Syracuse's leading scorer went head-to-head with teammate, senior captain Stefanie Marty who competed for the Swiss National Team that was held scoreless. Canada took an early 3-0 lead in the first period and added two more goals in the third stanza to seal the win. Menard assisted on Canada's fifth goal by Ohio State's Laura McIntosh.
Marty will look to help Switzerland rebound when they face off against Germany on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
Menard and the defending champion Canadians will take on Germany on Thursday, Jan. 6. Competition at the 2011 MLP Cup runs through Saturday, Jan. 8.
The pair missed the Colgate game last night where the Orange tied the Raiders 4-4 in overtime and will also miss the Mercyhurst series this weekend. Menard and Marty will rejoin the Orange for the Robert Morris series on Jan. 14 and 15 at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
