
The Orange have had three student-athletes earn All-American honors in each of the past four years

Syracuse field hockey seniors Liz McInerney and Heather Susek, along with junior Kelsey Millman, were named Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Americans on Monday. McInerney (Dublin, Ireland) was named to the First Team while Susek and Millman were named to the Second and Third Teams, respectively. All three SU student-athletes led the Orange to a 19-4 record in 2011 and the team's second straight BIG EAST Tournament championship.
This marks the fourth consecutive season that the Orange has had three student-athletes earn All-American status, while McInerney is the ninth First-Team selection in program history. Susek earned All-American honors for the second straight year after a Third-Team selection in 2010.
McInerney, who earned All-Mideast Region First Team status last week, had six goals and 11 assists in 2011. Her 23 points are 10th in the BIG EAST while her 11 assists are sixth in the conference and 44th in the nation. The Dublin, Ireland native was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team as well as the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team, and tied the school record for assists in a game with three against Vermont on Oct. 16. McInerney was also named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and conference Weekly Honor Roll twice this season.
Susek, who was also named a Synapse Sports Second Team All-American on Monday, finished her Syracuse career in a tie for fourth on the SU career goals list with 37. During her senior season, she was tied with Millman for the team and league lead in goals (19) while adding seven assists. She is 25th in the nation in points per game (1.96) and 20th in goals per game (0.83). In 74 career games, Susek had 88 points, which is ninth all-time at Syracuse. The 2011 BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player of the Year was also named to the NFHCA Senior Game this season.
Millman (Center Valley, Pa.) had a breakout season for the Orange in 2011, posting 19 goals and 13 assists en route to an All-Mideast First Team selection. Her 51 points set a new SU junior class record, previously held by Yvonne Milionis in 1990, and broke the school record for points in a game against Georgetown on Oct. 14 with 10. Millman also tied the SU record for goals in a game with four against the Hoyas. She leads the BIG EAST in points and is tied for the league lead in goals with Susek, and is 17th and tied for 20th nationally in each respective category.
Millman had a 12-game scoring streak from Sept. 16-Oct. 23, when she had 37 points on 13 goals and 11 assists. She helped the Orange average 3.78 goals per game, which leads the BIG EAST and is sixth in the nation.
