SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Three members of the Syracuse University women's ice hockey team received honors at the College Hockey America (CHA) postseason banquet on March 3. Sophomore forward Isabel Menard was named First Team All-Conference, while freshman goaltender Kallie Billadeau and fellow classmate, defender Akane Hosoyamada earned a spot on the All-Rookie team.
For Menard, this marked the second consecutive season that she received the honor. The Ottawa, Ontario native was SU's leading scorer for the second straight season with 19 goals and 25 assists. She was recently named a Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award nominee, given annually to the nation's top player in Division I women's ice hockey. Menard was named to the CHA All-Tournament team after tallying two goals and an assist in two games. Throughout the 2010-11 season she was named conference Player of the Week on three occasions and Player of the Month for November.
Syracuse was the only team to have two players named to the all-rookie squad.
Billadeau was the only goalie to earn a spot among the CHA's best newcomers. The Minnetonka, Minnesota native played 22 games in net for the Orange, recording a goals-against-average of 2.84 and a saves percentage of .908. She joined Menard on the CHA All-Tournament Team as the only goaltender selected. She turned away 59 total shots and recorded her first career shutout in two games during the tournament. Billadeau was named CHA Goalie of the Week on Feb. 28 after SU swept Niagara.
Hosoyamada led all Syracuse rookies with two goals and 16 assists for 18 points this season. She finished the season ranked sixth in the CHA in defenseman scoring, averaging .50 points per game. The Banff, Alberta native was named CHA Rookie of the Week on Nov. 29.
