SYRACUSE – The eighth-ranked Syracuse University men's rowing team welcomes No. 6 Boston University and No. 12 Columbia University to the Ten Eyck Boathouse located at Onondaga Lake Outlet in Longbranch Park on Friday for four races, including the Conlan Cup. The Orange freshman eight, second varsity eight, varsity eight and the second freshman eight will be in action beginning at 4 p.m. The race was originally scheduled for Saturday morning, but was changed due to impending weather.
Syracuse Alumni Rowing Association (SARA) will be providing live audio coverage of Saturday's action via telephone at 712-432-1496, Ext. 6029#. SARA's announcers will be following the races in the chase launches, providing a stroke by stroke account of the races – from the start until the finish.
The Orange is hoping for a sixth consecutive Conlan Cup championship against the Terriers. Though Syracuse will also be racing Columbia, the Conlan Cup is a competition solely between BU and SU. Since its inception in 1987, the Orange has won 14 Conlan Cup races during the past 24 years.
Syracuse has won 16 of its last 19 cups, while compiling a 30-5 record in dual races dating back to 2006.
The dedication for SU's newest vessel, the “Joseph E. Peter IV,” will be rescheduled for a later date.
