SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse's Kayla Alexander was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday for her performance in the Orange women's basketball team's (13-7, 2-4 BIG EAST) comeback road win against Seton Hall, 70-66, on Sunday afternoon.
It is the third BIG EAST weekly honor of the season for the junior center from Milton, Ontario. She received the same award on Nov. 21 and Nov. 28.
Alexander led all scorers with 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 shooting at the free throw line. She grabbed eight rebounds, seven of which came at the offensive end, leading the Orange's 30-24 advantage in points in the paint and 46-38 edge on the boards.
Alexander, the conference's top shot-blocker, recorded two swats to run her career total to 212, just five behind Chris Palombi for third on the SU career list.
Her three free throws made pulled upped her career total to 343, five shy of Julie McBride for third all-time at Syracuse.
The Preseason All-BIG EAST selection is averaging 15.8 points and 7.8 rebounds through 20 games.
