Results
The Syracuse cross country team competed in the John Reif Memorial hosted by Cornell this afternoon. The women placed five harriers in the top-10 while the men placed four in the top-10. The women's race was 5,000-m, while the men competed in a 5-mile race. Junior Kimberly Spano finished in first with a time of 18:40. Freshman Andrew Bennison was the top-finisher on the men's side, finishing in second place with a time of 26:19.
The women's race featured Cornell, Niagara and SUNY Cortland while the men ran against Cornell.
Breanna Symoniak was next finisher for SU, coming in second place with a time of 18:40. Freshman Emily Nist was right behind her, running the race in 18:46 which was good for third place. The next Orange to finish was freshman Margo Malone who finished in sixth place with a time of 18:57. Freshman Katherine Kinkead finished in eighth (19:20) while freshman Maura Linde came in 12th (19:39). Freshman Beth Wright rounded out the SU harriers in 18th place (20:07).
In the men's race, freshman Juris Silenieks came in fourth place with a time of 26:28. The next harrier to finish for SU was senior Jonathan Aziz who ran to a seventh place finish with a time of 26:42. Freshman Joe Kush came in 10th place with a time of 27:05. Senior Zach Rivers came in 14th place with a time of 27:22 and sophomore David Wilson finished in 17th with a time of 27:55.
Next up for the Orange is the BIG EAST Championships on Oct. 26th. St. John's will host the conference race.
