The Syracuse cross country team heads to Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. for the 2012 BIG EAST Cross Country Championship on Friday, Oct. 26th. The SU cross country team will compete in the NCAA Northeast Regionals on Friday, Nov. 9th in Madison, Conn.

Syracuse's BIG EAST Championship History
- Last year, both the men and women ran to fourth place finishes in each of their races.
- In 2009, the men's cross country team won the BIG EAST Championship for the first time in school history. They repeated the first-place finish in 2010.
- In 2009, the women's cross country team finished a program-best third place in the BIG EAST Championship. In 2010, they also ran to a third place finish.
- Senior Sarah Pagano was named an All-BIG EAST Selection, along with Lauren Penney. Pagano was also named an All-BIG EAST selection in 2010. Â
- On the men's team Pat Dupont was named an All-BIG EAST Selection for the second year in a row. Joining in 2010 was Forrest Misenti and Steve Weeks.
Men's Preview
- The No. 16 men's cross country team has seen solid performances from a variety of harriers this season, with five different Orange finishing as SU's top performer in all five races.
- Griff Graves (Harry Lang Invitational), Joe Whelan (Dartmouth Invitational), Martin Hehir (Toledo Bubble Buster), Andrew Palmer (Wisconsin Meet of Champions) and Andrew Benninson (John Reif Memorial) have all been the top-finishers in their respective meets for the Orange.
- The Orange, as a team, took first in three meets, at the Harry Lang Invitational, the Dartmouth Invitational and the Toledo Bubble Buster.
- The SU men are in search of its third BIG EAST title, and third in four years, this weekend.
- Lead by senior Sarah Pagano, the women's cross country will try and capture its first BIG EAST Championship this weekend.
- Pagano, a two-time All-BIG EAST selection, has been the top-SU finisher in three meets this season. Pagano finished second overall in a tough Toledo Bubble Buster race and 24th overall at the Wisconsin Meet of Champions.
- Sophomore Katie Fleischer was the Orange's top-finisher at the Harry Lang Invitational and Kimberly Spano took first at the John Reif Memorial this past weekend.
- SU took first overall at the Harry Lang Memorial in the beginning of September.

- The Syracuse men's cross country team checked in this week at No. 16
- The Orange garnered its highest ranking so far this season coming in at number 10 last week.
- The men have won three races so far: Harry Lang Invitational, the Dartmouth Invitational and the Toledo Bubble Buster. The came in 11th at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.
- In the regional rankings, the men are ranked at third in the Northeast Region behind Iona. The women are ranked sixth in the Northeast Region.
- The women took first at the Harry Lang Invitational and third at the Dartmouth Invitational. They ran to a fifth place finish in a tough Toledo Bubble Buster race. The women ran to a 22nd place finish at the Wisconsin Meet of Champions.
