Martin Hehir was the individual men's cross country champion.

Following his individual BIG EAST title, freshman Martin Hehir was named the ECAC Men's Cross Country runner of the Week. Hehir ran to a first place finished at the BIG EAST Championships with a time of 24:37.20. He helped the Syracuse men's cross country team win its third BIG EAST Championship in four years.

Prior to the BIG EAST Championships, Hehir competed in the Toledo Bubble Buster and the Wisconsin adidas Invitational. At the Bubble Buster, Hehir was the top SU finisher, coming in second place over all with a time of 19:07 in the four mile race. At Wisconsin, he finished 72nd overall with at time of 24:09 The Washingtonville, N.Y. native was a 2012 All-BIG EAST Selection.

Hehir and the rest of the Syracuse cross country team will compete in the NCAA Northeast Regionals on Nov. 9th in Madison, Conn. Both the men and the women have each won the NCAA Northeast Regionals for the past three years.
