SYRACUSE, N.Y. – First-year head coach, Leonid Yelin annouced the signing of four student-athletes to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) for the 2013 season this afternoon. Defensive specialist Candace Timberlake, middle blocker Michelle VanDyke and setters Erica Handley and Bailey Hume have all committed to join the Orange beginning in the spring 2013 semester.
"We are very excited to have these four athletes coming to us in the spring because it will give everyone a whole extra semester to become one, united team," said head coach Leonid Yelin.
Handley and Humes will both join the Orange as setters. Handley, a 6'1'' native of McIntosh, Minn., will arrive to SU following an early graduation from Lakeville North High School, while Humes will join the team as a transfer from American River Community College in Sacramento, Calif.
Timberlake, native of New Albany, Ind., joins the SU squad as a transfer, following a year at the University of Southern Indiana at libero in 2011. VanDyke will join the team as a middle blocker, following an early graduation from Eastern Christian High School in North Haledon, N.J. , where she was a two-sport athlete, competing in volleyball and basketball.
