Complete List
After Lauren Penney and Sarah Pagano took home United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors on Thursday, senior Pat Dupont and redshirt sophomore Sean Keefe earned similar honors on the men's side on Friday. Dupont picked up his third straight selection to the list while Keefe earned his first career honor.
The BIG EAST led all conferences with 10 selections to the list, which honored 58 student-athletes from 36 institutions. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region's top 15 (or top 10 percent) in 2011.
Dupont, who was named SU's BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athlete earlier in the week, led the Orange in every race he competed in during the season en route to his second straight All-American selection, becoming the first Syracuse male to earn the honor in back-to-back seasons since Roy Osterhaut in 1952 and 1953. He finished 37th overall at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. and also earned All-Northeast Region and All-BIG EAST honors in 2011.
As a music composition major, Dupont has been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic team three times, while earning a spot on the Dean's List in each of his seven semesters at Syracuse. A seven-time member of the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dupont also earned a spot on the National Academic All-American team in 2011.
Keefe (Churchville, Pa.) finished 15th overall at the NCAA Northeast Regional with a time of 31:42 to earn All-Northeast Region honors as the Orange captured its third-straight regional crown, earning an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.
In the classroom, Keefe is a two-time selection to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team as a geography and magazine major, and has been named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of his four semesters at Syracuse.
