Alexander Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse junior center Kayla Alexander was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday for her 23-point performance in the Orange's 79-63 win vs. Marquette on Saturday.
Alexander was 11-of-13 (.769) shooting, grabbed four rebounds, and blocked five shots, tying her season high.
Alexander fueled the Orange's 16-0 second-half run that blew open a close contest and ensured SU its fifth conference win of the season.
It was Alexander's fourth time being named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll this season. The First-Team All-Conference center also had the honor on Nov. 21, Nov. 28 and Jan. 23.
Overall, it was Syracuse's seventh BIG EAST weely award of the season. Iasia Hemingway has been named to the honor roll twice and was the conference's player of the week once.
Alexander goes into Tuesday's 9 p.m. game at No. 20/21 DePaul with 1,319 career points, eighth-most in SU program history and seven behind Erin Kenneally (1989-93) for seventh.
She ranks eighth in the conference in scoring (15.4 ppg) and 10th in rebounding (7.3 rpg), while leading the BIG EAST in blocks (2.6 bpg).
