
Orange Women Finish 17th in Capital One Cup Standings

MCLEAN, Va. – Syracuse finished 17th in the final Capital One Cup's women's standings for the 2011-12 season. The Orange earned 42 points this season. Points are awarded for top 10 finishes at NCAA Championships and final rankings in either the official coaches' or media poll.
Syracuse was one of two BIG EAST schools to finish in the top 20 as Notre Dame tied for 14th with 50 points. Stanford won the Capital One Cup on the women's side for the second consecutive season, posting 152.5 points.
The women's lacrosse team completed its most successful season in school history, advancing to the NCAA Championship game for the first time in school history. The Orange was ranked second in the final deBeer's media poll as well as the IWLCA coaches' poll.
The field hockey squad competed in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year in 2011. Syracuse advanced to the quarterfinals and was third in the final ranking.
The Capital One Cup is awarded annually to a men's and women's Division I program that accumulates the most points throughout the season.
