Hillsman is in his second year as an assistant on the Dutch staff. The squad finished fifth at the 2011 U18 European Championship.
The Netherlands opened play on a strong note Thursday, defeating Croatia, 51-43, in Group C of the 16-team Division A. Play continues for Coach Q and the Dutch squad on Friday when they face the Slovak Republic at 8:45 a.m. ET. Below is the complete recap from Thursday, courtesy of U18women.FIBAeurope.com.

Box Score | Schedule/Results
The Netherlands survived a nightmare second quarter to get their U18 European Championship Women campaign off to a winning start, with a 51-43 success against Croatia.
The Dutch managed just five points during the second period, to find themselves 28-21 behind at half time.
But, inspired by a fine 18-point contribution from Isabella Slim, they recovered to take control when they returned to the floor after the break.
Improved defence was also essential as they locked down their opponent across the third and fourth quarters, holding them to just 15 second half points.
It was a game which ebbed and flowed nicely with both teams enjoying periods of superiority.
Croatia scored the first six points of the game and caught the Netherlands cold before they eventually came to life.
Croatia played some super basketball and looked defensively strong during the second quarter with playmaker Lana Packovski particularly impressive for her team.
However, despite Ivana Tikvic and Ana-Marija Begic both doing a good job on the glass for the Croatians, it was the Netherlands who had the greater composure when it mattered.
