SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse takes on Albany in its home opener on Friday, August 23 at 4 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Orange is trying to start the season with back-to-back wins for the first time since 2004. Friday's game is the season opener for the Great Danes. Admission to the game is free of charge.

THE SERIES
Syracuse and Albany will meet for the fifth time in women's soccer and for the third time in the last five years. The Orange has won all four previous meetings by a combined score of 12-3.

ORANGE IN HOME OPENERS
Syracuse hosts Albany in its first home game of the 2012 season. The Orange is 12-1-3 all-time in its home openers. Last season Syracuse defeated BIG EAST foe Providence, 1-0, giving SU a 3-0-1 record in its last four home openers.

KOVAL EARNS BIG EAST HONOR
Sophomore Alexis Koval was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her performance in Syracuse's come-from-behind victory at Colgate. With the Orange trailing 2-0 in the second half, Koval scored her first career goal in the 60th minute. She then tied the score in the 74th minute. It marked the 36th time a member of the Orange scored two goals in a game. The last time it happened was in 2010.
