The Syracuse women's cross country team broke into the top-10 of the 2012 USTFCCCA Preseason National Poll, garnering a number nine ranking heading into this season. The men were placed at No. 12 in their national poll, which was released today by the USTFCCCA. The cross country team begins the 2012 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 when it travels to Colgate to run in the Harry Lang Invitational.

Both the SU men and women were ranked at the top of their regional rankings that were released on Monday after winning the Northeast Regionals for the third consecutive season in 2011. The women received a number one ranking in the Preseason Northeast Regional Rankings and the men were ranked at number two.

The men received a total of 216 votes and lead all of the BIG EAST teams in the poll. The women received 246 votes in the poll and are the third-highest ranked BIG EAST squad following the 2011 National Champion, Georgetown at No. 3 and Providence at No. 7.
