Eight Named to All-Region Team, Fox Named Northeast Coach of the Year

NEW ORLEANS—Eight members of the Syracuse cross country team were named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region team on Monday, six from the men's team and two from the women's. Head coach Chris Fox was named the men's Northeast Region Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career at Syracuse.

Members of the All-Region team are selected based on their finish at each of the NCAA regionals. The top-25 finishers from each of the nine regional sites qualify for the honor.

Griff Graves, Joseph Whelan, Martin Hehir, Reed Kamyszek, Robert Molke and Ryan Urie all received the honor for their performance at the Northeast Regional. This is the third time Whelan has been named to the All-Region team and the second time Graves, Hehir, Molke and Urie have earned a spot.

Margo Malone and Meredith Speakman were both named to the women's All-Region list for the first time in their careers.

The Orange is gearing up for the NCAA Championship on Saturday, Nov. 23. The men's race begins at noon and the women's team will race at approximately 1:15 p.m.
