Syracuse women's basketball head coach Quentin Hillsman has announced the appointment of Erica Morrow to the position of director of basketball operations.
Â
One of the greatest players in Syracuse women's basketball history, Morrow graduated in 2011 as the Orange's second all-time leading scorer. Her 1,658 points in 130 career games is currently third in program history.
Â
"Erica has been a part of our success from the day she arrived on our campus as a player," Hillsman said. "Her work ethic and knowledge will make an immediate impact to our continued success and growth as a program."
Â
Morrow previously served as the team's graduate student manager since earning her bachelor's in information systems and technology in 2011. She is enrolled in the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communication broadcast journalism graduate program.
Â
"I would like to thank Coach Q and the administration for giving me this great opportunity," Morrow said. "I am honored and excited to work with the program and university that I have been associated with and loved for the last six years. I look forward to working with the great coaches and student-athletes in taking Syracuse women's basketball to new heights."
Â
As director of basketball operations, Morrow is responsible for the general oversight and monitoring of the program's day-to-day operations, while also overseeing operational and recruiting budgets.
Â
This also includes assisting in coordinating all team travel, coordination of pre-game and post-game meals, hotel services, arranging practice times and locations, organizing team meals and housing, and hiring and supervising team manager staff.
Â
Morrow is the program's liaison with academic support services. This includes coordinating study schedules, monitoring tutorial sessions, organizing study table sessions and reports with the academic support staff advisor.
Â
Morrow served as an assistant director at the Quentin Hillsman Elite Camp for four summers.
Â
Just the second McDonald's All-American in SU women's basketball history, Morrow started in all 130 games of her Orange career from 2007-2011, becoming the school's all-time leader in minutes played (4,163). While averaging 12.8 points per game over her career, she also ranks second in steals (283) and game started (130), third in 3-point field goals (221) and free throws made (355), and eighth in assists (428).
Â
As a freshman in 2007-08, she helped lead the Orange to its fourth ever NCAA Tournament appearance, going 22-9 overall and 10-6 in the BIG EAST on her way to earning BIG EAST All-Freshman honors. As a junior and senior in 2009-10 and 2010-11, Morrow led SU to 25 wins seasons, finishing her career with 89 wins and four postseason appearances.
Â
A Brooklyn, N.Y. native, Morrow starred at Murry Bergtraum High School, earning WBCA, Parade and McDonald's All-America honors her senior year when she averaged 24 points and seven assists. She scored 17 points in her final high school game to lead Murry Bergtraum to the 2007 girls' Class AA State Federation title with a 47-33 win vs. Rush-Henrietta, capping off a 27-0 season.
