Orange and Gators Meet in Orange Bowl

MIAMI -- No. 4/5 Syracuse faces its third straight top 10 opponent when it takes on No.2/2 Florida in the Orange Bowl Lacrosse classic on Saturday, March 2. Opening draw at Sun Life Stadium is set for 5 p.m.
The game is a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament semifinals where Syracuse came back from a seven-goal deficit to defeat Florida, 14-13, in double overtime. With the victory, the Orange advanced to the national championship game for the first time in school history.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on Sun Sports Network and MSG+. Fans can listen to the action live on WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area and on Orange All Access on SUathletics.com. Subscriptions to Orange All Access are available at daily, monthly and yearly rates.
CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse is coming off its first home victory of this season after defeating Virginia in a 10-9 comeback on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The Cavaliers dominated the first half, with four different players scoring the first four goals of the game. Alyssa Murray put the Orange on the board with back-to-back goals with less than five minutes left in the period. Virginia's Morgan Stephens scored one of her three goals of the day to give the Cavaliers a 5-2 lead at the half.
Both squads found the back of the net three times in the first 11 minutes of the second half. With Virginia leading 8-6, Syracuse went on a 3-0 run with Devon Colllins tying the game and Murray giving the Orange the lead for the first time. Virginia answered back with a goal by Stephens at the 10:19 mark to tie it up again. Freshman Kayla Treanor was the deciding factor, scoring her ninth goal of the season with less than five minutes of play to give the Orange a 10-9 lead that it would not relinquish.
Senior Michelle Tumolo led the offense with two goals and three assists for a total of five points. Murray registered a team-high four goals on the day.
SCOUTING THE GATORS
Florida is undefeated this season, posting a 6-0 record. The Gators are coming off a 17-7 win against Albany on Sunday, Feb. 24.
Ashley Bruns leads the attack for Florida with 18 points on the season. Shannon Gilroy leads the squad in goals with 16. Mikey Meagher has started in goal every game for the Gators this season, recording 29 saves and posting a 5.14 goals-against average.
Amanda O'Leary is in her fourth season as head coach for Florida. In her time with the Gators she has posted a 51-15 record and has led Florida to two NCAA appearances, including the Final Four last year.
SERIES HISTORY
Syracuse and Florida will face each other for the fourth time on Saturday. The Orange leads the series 2-1 with both victories coming from last season.
