Orange Goes on the Road to Face Towson

TOWSON, Md. -- No. 5/7 Syracuse continues its road trip this weekend as it plays at No. 16/16 Towson on Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m. Syracuse is 2-2 on the season while Towson has posted a 1-3 record.
The game will be broadcast live on WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area. Fans can also listen to the broadcast on Orange All Access on SUathletics.com. Subscriptions to Orange All Access are available at daily, monthly and yearly rates.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse is coming off a 14-10 loss to Florida on Saturday, March 2. Senior Michelle Tumolo led the Orange with five points and climbed to third place on the Orange's all-time scoring list.
The Orange fell behind early after the Gators netted three goals in the first six minutes. Tumolo and Alyssa Murray scored back-to-back goals before Florida went on another 3-0 run to take a 6-2 lead. The Gators led 8-4 before Tumolo and Murray each found the back of the net to cut the lead to two, but Florida recorded the final two goals of the half to take a 10-6 halftime lead.
Florida scored at the 27:32 mark of the second half to take its largest lead of the game at 11-6. Tumolo sparked a Syracuse comeback attempt when she scored on an assist from Murray. Murray then found the back of the net and Katie Webster tallied her first goal of the game to bring the Orange within two at 11-9 with 19:06 to play. That was as close as SU could get as Florida scored three straight goals and posted the four-goal victory.
Tumolo scored a team-high four goals to go along with an assist, while Murray finished with two goals and two assists.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Towson is coming off an 11-10 loss to Loyola. The Tigers were set to take on American on Wednesday but the game was postponed due to inclement weather.
Sarah Maloof leads the offense for Towson with 15 points, recording eight goals and seven assists in four games. Kelly Custer leads the team in goals with nine on the season. Kelsea Donnelly has seen every minute in net for the Tigers, posting a 10.25 goals-against average and registering 35 saves.
Sonia LaMonica is in her third season as head coach for the Tigers. She has guided Towson to a record of 28-14.
SERIES HISTORY
Syracuse is undefeated against Towson, posting a series record of 8-0. Last season the Orange defeated the Tigers 18-7.
