Orange Hosts CNY Foe Cornell Tuesday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 5/5 Syracuse (9-3) goes for its fifth consecutive win when it takes on No. 18/RV Cornell (7-4) on Tuesday, April 16. Opening draw in the Carrier is set for 4 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
The game will be televised live on Time Warner Cable Sports throughout New York State. The game will also be broadcast live on WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area. Fans can follow the action on SUathletics.com with live video and audio on Orange All Access as well as live stats. Subscriptions to Orange All Access are available at daily, monthly and yearly rates.
Tuesday's game is a part of a doubleheader with the Syracuse men's lacrosse team, which takes on Hobart at 7 p.m. Admission to the women's game will be free until halftime when the cost increases to the regular price for a men's game ($10 for adults and $5 for youth ages 12 and under).
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 21-6 victory against Cincinnati on Sunday, April 14 in the Carrier Dome. The Orange posted the first 12 goals of the game and tied its season-high with 21 goals.
Senior Michelle Tumolo started the offensive outburst at the 27:15 mark on an assist from junior Alyssa Murray. Junior Amy Cross, senior Bridget Daley, freshman Erica Bodt and sophomore Kailah Kempney extended the scoring run. Murray scored three times in the first half and her goal with 3:11 remaining put the Orange up 12-0. Cincinnati finally got on the scoreboard with 13 seconds left in the half.
The Orange continued the offensive barrage after intermission, posting the first two goals of the second half. The Bearcats recorded three of the game's next four goals, but Syracuse closed out the contest on a 6-2 scoring run.
Murray paced a balanced Orange offense with six points (3g, 3a). Overall, 15 different players scored for SU.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell defeated Brown, 9-7, on Friday to snap a four-game losing streak. Three of the four losses were by two goals or less.
Lindsay Toppe is Cornell's leading scorer with 42 points on a team-high 33 goals and nine assists. Caroline Salisbury is next in line with 31 points (24g, 7a), while Emily Tripodi has 28 points on eight goals and a team-best 20 assists. Courtney Gallagher has started 10 of 11 games in goal for the Big Red. She has an 11.08 goals-against average and a .374 save percentage.
Jenny Graap is in her 16th year as the head coach at Cornell. She has guided the Big Red to a record of 149-97.
THE SERIES
Syracuse leads the all-time series, 11-5. The Orange has won the last six meetings between the two schools.
