Orange Hosts Albany in Home Opener

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- For the second consecutive year Syracuse will host Albany in its home opener on Friday, Aug. 30. Game time at the SU Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
The Orange (1-1-0) opened the season last weekend at the Penn State Invitational. Syracuse defeated Hofstra, 3-2, before a 2-1 setback to rv/19 West Virginia.
ORANGE IN HOME OPENERS
Syracuse has an all-time record of 12-1-4 all-time in its home openers. Last season the Orange tied the Great Danes (1-1-0), 1-1, in its first home game of the season. Since head coach Phil Wheddon took over the helm of the Syracuse program, the Orange is 3-0-2 in its home openers.
SIMON PICKS UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
Sophomore Erin Simon (Oakhurst, N.J.) led the Orange in scoring last weekend with four points. Simon, who is Syracuse's leading returning scorer, scored one goal and recorded two assists at the Penn State Invitational. She is tied for fourth in the ACC in assists and assists per game.
THE SERIES
Syracuse has never lost to Albany. SU owns a 4-0-1 lead in the series. The only tie between the two teams came in last year's meeting at the SU Soccer Stadium.
The Orange leads the all-time series with Colgate, 13-2-1. Syracuse has won the last five meetings. Last season, SU needed overtime to defeat the Raiders, 3-2.
