Piacentini, Drinkwater Earn CHA Honors

HAVERHILL, Mass.—Two Orange earned College Hockey America weekly honors for their performance against Penn State last weekend. Sophomore forward Melissa Piacentini is the CHA Player of the Week and senior Jenesica Drinkwater is the Goalie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Piacentini recorded four points in the Orange's sweep of Penn State this weekend on three goals and an assist. On Friday, she notched the first goal and the overtime game-winner. On Saturday she assisted on the game-winner and scored an insurance goal to secure the sweep. With goals in both contests the sophomore extended her scoring streak to six games, the longest stretch in program history. Piacentini leads the team in goals (12) and points (21), tallying 10 of those points in the last six games. She is tied for fifth in the conference in goals and is first in power play goals with five on the season. Nationally, Piacentini ranks 25th in goals-per-game and third in man-up scores.

Drinkwater captured to more wins over the weekend against Penn State, bringing her record to 10-2-0 (.833), the second-best mark in CHA and fourth-best in the nation. She totaled 38 saves against the Nittany Lions and had a 0.98 goals against average and .950 save percentage. On Saturday, the senior net minder stopped every puck thrown her way to ear her second shutout of the season and sixth of her career. Drinkwater moved up the conference rankings in goals against average from fourth to second with a 1.99 GAA. She also improved her overall save percentage to .915, now sixth-best in the conference.

The Orange is back in action at home this weekend to take on No. 10 Mercyhurst in the annual Skate for the Cure event on Friday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. in Tennity Ice Pavilion.
