Lindsay McCabe finished the match with three of her own. At libero, Belle Sand finished the night with 10 digs.
How It Happened
The first set began with both teams trading blows until a 4-0 run lifted Georgia Tech to a 14-10 lead. Once the Orange found itself down, 22-20 it was forced to make a move. Monika Salkute snapped Georgia Tech's run with a kill and the Yellow Jackets had a tough time handling the SU attack, resulting in three errors to give SU a 24-23 lead. With set point brought upon Tech, it was none-other than Uattara who sent a rocket to the floor to give SU the set, 25-23.
In the second stanza, the Yellow Jackets jumped out to a quick, 12-7 lead. From there Tech made it difficult for the Orange to climb back until SU was forced to make a move again with the score at 20-17, Tech. Kills by Monika Salkute and Gosia Wlaszczuk followed by back-to-back kills by Uattara tied the set at 21. With the score knotted up, two more kills by Uattara and two errors by the Yellow Jackets gave SU the four points it needed to put away the set, 25-23 in favor of Syracuse.
After the break and defeat bearing down on the Yellow Jackets, Tech jumped out in front of SU with a 12-3 run, then followed by a 6-2 run to take the set and begin its climb back into the match with a 25-11 score.
The fourth was similar to the first two, except this time Tech pieced together a 4-1 run to extend its lead late from 19-16 to 23-17. SU attempted to climb back grabbing three more points but a kill for Tech put an end to SU's comeback, 25-20.
Uattara attempted to send a message in the fifth, with the first kill of the set but an attack error by SU and three kills lifted Tech to a 4-1 lead. The closest SU came to coming back was on following an attack error by the Yellow Jackets bringing the score to 6-5. However, Georgia Tech refused to give SU an inch of momentum with a 5-2 surge to extend its lead to 11-7. From there SU couldn't manage to stop the Tech attack as the two teams traded blows, with SU falling in the end, 15-10.
