Orange Hosts Boston College on Alumni Day

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse (4-5-3) is set to take on the Boston College Eagles (8-4-0) on Saturday Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. Both teams come into Saturday's match 1-2-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play.

Saturday is Alumni Day for the Orange. The program will honor former players and coaches at the match on Saturday. The program began play in 1996 under the direction of head coach April Kater, who will return for Alumni Day along with former assistant coach Maren Rojas. The list of former student athletes returning includes all-time leading scorer Erin O'Grady as well as members of two of the last three graduating classes.

SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
Boston College travels to Syracuse coming off a five-match home stretch, which included victories against Harvard and Pittsburgh. The Eagles posted an impressive six-game winning streak at the beginning of the season. Five of the six wins were shutouts, but the streak was snapped by a 3-2 loss against South Florida. Sophomore forward Hayley Dowd leads the team in points 19 (8g, 3a), while senior Stephanie McCaffrey is second on the team with 18 points (6g, 6a).

SERIES HISTORY
Syracuse is 3-7-2 in the series against Boston College. The last time Syracuse defeated Boston College was in 2001 as BIG EAST Conference rivals, where the Orange pulled out a 3-2 victory in overtime.

LAST TIME OUT
Syracuse last met the Eagles in its final match of the 2013 season, where Boston College posted a 2-1 win in double overtime. Syracuse senior goalkeeper Brittany Anghel became the second player in school history to record 300 career saves. McKenzie Meehan scored less than 10 minutes into the game to give Boston College the early lead. The Orange trailed most of the match until Maddie Damm (North Kingston, R.I.) scored in the 73rd minute, sending the game into overtime. Meehan scored her second goal of the game and seventh game-winning goal of her career in the 103rd minute, giving the Eagles the 2-1 victory.

The Orange hits the road again to take on No. 2 Florida State on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. and Clemson on Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. The match against Florida State will be televised on ESPN3.
