Syracuse Ranked No. 24 in Preseason AP Poll

Coming off a 23-10 campaign in 2013-14
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's basketball team is ranked No. 24 in the country in the Preseason Associated Press (AP) Poll, as announced on Thursday afternoon. It marks the first time in program history that Syracuse has appeared in the top 25 of the Preseason AP Poll.

Syracuse is one of five Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) teams ranked in the top 25 of the preseason poll. Six teams on the Orange's 2014-15 slate, potentially seven, appear in the top 25, as well.

The Orange is coming off a historic 2013-14 season. Last season, Syracuse advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season, a program first. The team went on to defeat Chattanooga in the first round for its first victory in the NCAA Tournament in school history.

Syracuse returns its top two scorers from a year ago in juniors Brianna Butler and Brittney Sykes. Earlier this month, Sykes was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team by the coaches and Blue Ribbon Panel.

The club tips off its season on Sunday, Nov. 16 against Fordham. The game is slated to begin at 12 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
