Eastwood, Munroe, Scully and Welch ink NLIs to join Cuse
The Syracuse hockey team has added four players for next season, head coach Paul Flanagan announced.
Lindsay Eastwood (defender/Kanta, Ontario), Allie Munroe (defender/Yarmouth, Nova Scotia ), Karleigh Scully (forward/Montreal, Quebec) and Madison Welch (goaltender/East Amherst, N.Y.) all signed National Letters of Intent to join the Orange next season.
Eastwood is a 6-foot-1 defender currently playing with the Nepean Junior Wildcats. She is coming off a season in which she led the Wildcats to a league championship on a team that posted a PWHL record of 67 points. Eastwood has scored 14 goals and 53 assists in her career, putting her on pace to be in the top-five of defensemen scoring in league history.
Munroe has 53 career points (15 goals and 38 assists) prior to this season with New Hampton School in New Hampton, New Hampshire. She led her team to the Cushing Academy Championship and Lakes Region Championship last season and was named to the All-Tournament Team. A two-time Lakes Region All Star and New Hampshire State All Star, Munroe earned team MVP honors last season.
Scully, a forward with the CIH Voyageurs, led her team to an 18-1-1 record last season, while earning team MVP honors and was also the 2012 and 2013 Athlete of the Year at CIH. She has scored 42 goals and 29 assists with the Voyageurs.
Welch played hockey at Nichols in Buffalo, N.Y. and also for the Niagara Purple Eagles U19 and Buffalo Bisons. Her team has made it to at least the quarterfinals of the US National Championships in each of the last three seasons, including an appearance in the title game in 2012. She is an eight-time state champion, with eight US Nationals appearances and two appearances in the title game in her career. Welch is no stranger to CHA hockey as her sister Kaelsey played at Mercyhurst from 2009-13. She also has another sister Haley who currently plays at Union. For her career, she has a record of 215-55-21, while saving nearly 94-percent of her shots and allowing 1.5 goals against.
The 2014-15 Orange will return to action on Tuesday at Cornell, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
