SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse's seven-match road swing continues this weekend when it travels to Louisville for its first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) contest on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 before taking on Cincinnati on Sunday, Sept. 21 at noon.
The Orange enters the weekend with a 3-2-3 record, while the Cardinals are 3-4-0 in their first season in the ACC. The Bearcats are 5-1-2 this season. Video of Friday's game will be available on gocards.com, while Sunday's game will be available on gobearcats.com.
SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
The Cardinals make their ACC debut on Friday night. Louisville just snapped its three-game losing streak with a 3-2 overtime victory versus Kent State. UofL was down 2-0 at the half, but freshman Isabella Habuda scored the game-tying goal in the last five minutes of the match, sending the game into overtime. Freshman Alison Price scored the game-winning goal less than two minutes into the extra period.
SCOUTING CINCINNATI
Cincinnati is looking to further its five-game unbeaten streak. The last three wins for the Bearcats have been shutouts – 9-0 against Eastern Kentucky, 5-0 versus St. Francis and 2-0 against Xavier. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Smith has recorded four shutouts in the teams' five wins.
FRESHMAN TO WATCH
Freshman Jessica Vigna recorded her first collegiate goal and multi-point match against Drexel. In addition to her unassisted goal in the 22nd minute, Vigna assisted on Maya Pitts' first-half goal for a total of three points against the Dragons. She is currently tied for fourth on the team in scoring.
ORANGE IN THE ACC
In their inaugural season in the ACC, the Orange posted a 3-9-1 conference record and a 7-11-1 overall. The Orange faced its most difficult schedule in program history in 2013, taking on 12 teams that advanced to the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Six teams in the ACC competed in the 2013 national tournament. Virginia and Virginia Tech advanced to the College Cup semifinals while Florida State made it to the championship, losing to UCLA 1-0.
THE SERIES
The Cardinals lead the series with Syracuse, 2-0-1. The Orange last faced Louisville in 2012 where the match ended in 1-1 tie. Syracuse and Cincinnati have met three times. SU has one win against the Bearcats and the other two meetings ended in a tie.
