Henderson Heating Up

Senior guard Diamond Henderson continued her hot stretch, scoring 19 points against No. 4 Notre Dame
Senior guard Diamond Henderson has shown flashes of her scoring ability numerous times in her first season as a member of the Orange, but her past five contests may have been her best yet.
Henderson has scored in double figures in each game during the stretch, while shooting over 50-percent from the field in four of the games, including a 19-point performance on Sunday against No. 4 Notre Dame.
She went 7-of-13 from the floor, including a stretch in the second half where she secured three-point plays on back-to-back possessions to cut the Irish lead to five.
"Diamond has been doing a great job, she can score the basketball and she's been doing that a lot," head coach Quentin Hillsman said. "We try to get four players in double figures every game and we did that today, but unfortunately we came up short."
She's also been a facilitator for 'Cuse, averaging over three assists per game in her last five to compliment 1.6 steals and 2.4 rebounds per game over the span.
As per usual this season, Henderson has stepped up against the toughest competition, averaging 17 points in Syracuse's four games against ranked opponents.
"I think playing a top-10 team is always a boost for my confidence when I play well and a confidence builder for our team," Henderson said. "But obviously you want to win, so it's bitter sweet."
She won't have to wait long for her next opportunity against a ranked opponent as the Orange travel to No. 10/12 Duke on Thursday. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN3.
