
Grossi, Gilligan Garner CHA Player Of The Week Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- After a successful week on the ice for the Syracuse women's ice hockey team, sophomore Stephanie Grossi was named College Hockey America Player of the Week while senior Jenn Gilligan was chosen as Goaltender of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Grossi and Gilligan led Syracuse (3-4-0, 1-0 CHA) to a 1-1 record over the week, including a big 7-1 win over CHA rival RIT in its conference opener. Grossi finished with six points through two games while Gilligan secured 37 total saves in between the pipes, registering a .902 save percentage.
In the win over RIT, Grossi tied the Syracuse single-game record with five points, tallying a hat trick to go with two assists. Gilligan made 15 saves, allowing just one goal in the conference victory over RIT. The Orange lost a tough game on the road against St. Lawrence by the final score of 3-2. Grossi dished out an assist in the losing effort while Gilligan finished with 22 saves.
Through seven games, Grossi leads the Orange with 12 points, which includes three goals and a team-high nine assists. Gilligan is 3-3 in the crease for Syracuse this season, totaling 119 saves to go with a 2.45 goals against average.
The Orange is back in action this weekend when the team travels to Robert Morris for a pair of conference games on Friday and Saturday. Syracuse will take on the Colonials Friday at 7:05 p.m. before a 3:05 start time on Saturday.
