Men tie highest rank in program histroy
Both the Syracuse men's and women's cross country teams moves up in Tuesday's USTFCCCA Poll.
The Orange men are up to No. 2 in the nation, which ties the best rank in program history – a feat that was accomplished in November of last season before the team competed in the NCAA Championships – while the women also moved up a spot to No. 15 in this week's poll.
In the men's poll, defending National Champion Colorado is still the unanimous No. 1, with 360 points and 12 first-place votes. The Orange moved up with 343 points, passing Stanford, which fell to No. 4 with 324 points.
Oregon ranks third with 331 points and Iona, the lone-other team from the USTFCCCA Northeast Region in the poll, ranked fifth.
ACC rivals Virginia (seventh), Louisville (T-17th) and NC State (T-17th) are the only other teams from the league represented this week.
On the women's side, The Orange passed Penn State to move up one spot.
The women's poll also features a unanimous No. 1 with New Mexico owning all-12 first-place votes.
'Cuse is once again the second-highest ranked ACC team, behind just No. 12 NC State and ahead of Virginia (17th), Notre Dame (18th) and North Carolina (19th).
Neither team competed this weekend and won't race again until next Friday, Oct. 16 at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.
