PHILADELPHIA. --Â No. 3 Syracuse's quest for its first national championship continues when it takes on No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Maryland in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament semifinals on Friday, May 22. The Orange and Terrapins will meet in the second semifinal, which is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. at PPL Park.

The game will be televised live on ESPN3. Fans can also listen to the broadcast on Cuse.com and on WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area.

What to Watch For – Syracuse (16-7)
1. Syracuse is making its fourth straight appearance in the national semifinals and sixth in program history. The Orange has advanced to the national championship game twice in the last three years. Friday's game is a rematch of last year's final, which Maryland won, 15-12.
2. The Orange will face the No. 1 team in the nation for the 18th time in program history. Its only win against the top-ranked team was in the semifinals of the 2012 NCAA Tournament against Florida.
3. Junior Kayla Treanor (Niskayuna, N.Y.) needs two points to become just the fourth player in school history to record 300 points in her career. In addition, her next goal will give Treanor sole possession of fourth place on Syracuse's career leader list.

What to Watch For – Maryland (19-1)
1. Maryland has been ranked No. 1 all season and enters the national semifinals with 19-1 record. Its only setback was a loss to Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament.
2. Defending Tewaaraton Award winner Taylor Cummings leads Maryland's offense with 89 points this season on 58 goals and a team-high 31 assists. Freshman Megan Whittle has tallied a team-best 64 goals this season. Goalkeeper Alex Fitzpatrick has started all 20 games for the Terrapins. She has a 6.91 goals-against average and a .464 save percentage.
3. Cathy Reese is in her 10th year at the helm of the Maryland program. The two-time IWLCA Coach of the Year has guided the Terrapins to two national championships.

THE SERIES
Maryland leads the all-time series with Syracuse, 17-1. The two teams met earlier this season when Maryland defeated Syracuse 10-7. The Orange's lone win against the Terrapins was a 10-9 victory in College Park in 2012.
