
Slim and Netherlands Advance to Quarterfinals

Looking to guide Dutch to second semifinal appearance
TEGUISE, Spain – Rising junior forward Isabella Slim of the Syracuse University women's basketball team and the Netherlands U20 national team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2015 FIBA U20 European Championship. Slim and the Netherlands will play Slovakia in the quarterfinals on Friday morning at 11:15 a.m. EST.

The Amsterdam, Netherlands native has played in all six games thus far in the continental tournament. Slim averaged 8.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per contest for the Dutch in group play. Currently, she ranks second among participants in defensive rebounding, averaging 6.5 boards per game.

Her best performance of the tournament thus far came against Italy on July 6. The forward paced the Netherlands to a 68-62 victory against the Italians behind a double-double. Slim recorded a tournament-best 15 points and 11 boards.

Two days later, Slim matched her best scoring output of the tournament when she notched 15 points against Hungary in an 80-62 win. In the team's second game on July 3, Slim pulled down 12 boards, as well.

Slim and the Netherlands are looking to make their second trip to semifinals in tournament history. The Netherlands' best showing in the FIBA U20 European Championship was a fourth-place showing in 2012.
