The duo becomes the latest in a string of 'Cuse student-athletes to play at the international level
Syracuse sophomore Laura Hurff and incoming junior Emma Lamison have been added to USA Field Hockey's U-21 roster, becoming the latest in a list of Syracuse field hockey players to be selected to their respective national team.
A Liverpool, N.Y. native, Lamison played two seasons at Northeastern University before joining the Orange for the 2015 season. While playing for the Huskies, Lamison played in 39 games, accumulating 26 points on nine goals and six assists and earned NFHCA Second Team All-America honors in 2014.
Hurff played in every contest as a rookie last season, starting all-but two games. She also tallied 14 points, which ranked seventh on the team in scoring. She scored twice against Louisville and earned ACC Player of the Week for her efforts last season.
In addition to Lamison and Hurff on the USA U-21 roster, Syracuse is also represented on the USA national team by Alyssa Manley, who earned a gold medal at the Pan Am Games this summer with the squad, including scoring her first international goal in the semifinal game to propel the U.S. into the final.
Lamison and Hurff also worked with new teammate Jennifer Bleakney this summer at the USA U-21 camp, as Bleakney was also invited to participate in the U-21 camp by USA Field Hockey.
The Orange are also represented internationally, with newcomer Zoe Wilson playing with Ireland's U-21 team this summer, following in the footsteps of current 'Cuse senior Emma Russell who previously played on the team.
Midfielder Alma Fenne previously played for the Netherlands U-18 team before joining the Orange this season.
Syracuse will open the 2015 season at Stanford on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. eastern. Â
