Women picked sixth by ACC coaches
The two-time defending ACC Champion men's cross country team isn't sneaking up on anyone in 2015.
The No. 3 Orange was picked as the ACC preseason favorite in the ACC Preseason Coaches' Poll one day after the team was slotted at its highest national preseason rank in program history. The Syracuse men were also picked first in the USTFCCCA Northeast Region.
The Syracuse women was slotted sixth in the ACC Preseason Poll, in a tightly packed women's side of the conference featuring six teams ranked between 16-25 in the USTFCCCA Preseason Poll.
Coming off a fifth-place finish at nationals, the best finish for the team since 1957 -- the 'Cuse men return five of its top-seven runners from the NCAA Championships last season, led by All-American Martin Hehir, Colin Bennie, Justyn Knight, Joel Hubbard and Dan Lennon.
The Orange women are led by returners Margo Malone, Sydney Leiher, Maura Linde and Rebecca Skodis, who return from the NCAA Championships roster, with Meredith Speakman returning to the 'Cuse roster after missing last season due to injury.
