Cross Country Set for Coast-to-Coast Battle

Having not raced since second place finishes for both the men and women at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational on Sept. 11, the Syracuse Orange cross country teams will return to action in the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday.
Orange at Boston College
- In last year's Battle in Beantown, the Orange men placed second while the women took third.
- Martin Hehir led the way for the Orange, finishing fourth overall in the 8k race with a time of 24:31.
- The meet was the collegiate debut for Justyn Knight, who placed 20th with a time of 24:53. He was the second freshman to cross the line at the meet.
Bennie Off to a Fast Start
- Sophomore Colin Bennie had a great debut at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invite, winning his first collegiate meet at the event.
- Bennie earned USTFCCCA and ACC athlete of the week honors for his performance.
Debut Weekend
- Returning All-American Martin Hehir and sophomore Justyn Knight have yet to race this season and are expected to return to the lineup in Boston.
Ranking the Orange
- The Syracuse men sit in third, while the women rank 19th in the latest USTFCCCA standings.
- The men have been ranked third in every poll this season, while the women have been ranked as high as No. 17.
The women's race is scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m. on Friday in Franklin Park.
