Orange Primed for Regular Season Finale

The Syracuse cross country teams will take on their final test prior to the start of its championship season on Friday in the form of the John Reif Memorial Run.
About the John Reif Memorial
-Â This is the 13th-annual event, hosted at the Moakley Course in Ithaca, New York
-Â The men's race is five miles, the women's race is a 5k.
- Tthe Moakley Course traverses across Cornell's Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.Â
-The 5k will begin at 4:30 pm and the five mile race at 5:00 pm.
Syracuse at the John Reif Memorial
-Â There are no team scores at the John Reif Memorial, but the Orange has had solid performances every year at the event.
-Â In the past five years, both the men's and women's teams have each had at least one runner place in the top 5 at the John Reif Memorial.
- Since 2010, the Orange have had five runners, counting both men and women, place first at the John Reif.
- Most recently, Juris Silenieks and Mary Malone swept the individual titles at last year's event.
Ranking the Orange
-Â The Syracuse men enter the meet at No. 6 in the latest USTFCCCA poll, still sitting as the highest ranked team from the ACC and the Northeast region.
-Â The women enter the meet unranked, but are receiving votes in the latest coaches' poll.
Last Time Out:
-Â The Syracuse men took fourth place at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, one of the most competitive meets in the nation.
- The Syracuse women ended with a 20th place finish.
- Justyn Knight led the Orange to fourth place finish by winning the men's individual title. Knight used a hard kick to pass the second place finisher to capture first. After his win, Knight was named USTFCCCA Athlete of the week, as well as ACC Performer of the Week.
- Colin Bennie also finished in the top-20, running to a 14th place finish.
- The women were led by Paige Stoner's 44th place finish overall. It was her first meet as Syracuse's top finisher in her young Orange career.

-Â The Syracuse men placed four runners in the top five at last year's meet.
-Mary Malone placed first for the women's team and 'Cuse grad Juris Silenieks placed first for the men at last year's John Reif Memorial run.
- Behind Silenieks, Nick Ryan (second), Andrew Bennison (fourth), Kevyn Hoyos (fifth), Robert Hall (14th) and Andrew Paladino (20th) raced for the Syracuse men.
- Malone was the only runner at last year's event on the women's side.
Prepping for the ACCs
- After the John Reif Memorial run, Syracuse will head to the ACC Championships in Raleigh, North Carolina.
- The men's team will look to defend their three-consecutive ACC titles and four-straight conference titles overall dating back to the team's final season in the BIG EAST.Â
- The women's team finished 4th overall last year at the ACCs.
