10/5/2016 11:34:00 AM | Cross Country
The Syracuse cross country team maintained its hold on the No. 2 ranking in this week's USTFCCCA poll as the team prepares for its next meet on Oct. 14. The women fell three spots to No. 20 despite neither team having raced since Sept. 23.
The men once again sit behind Northern Arizona, who garnered 352 points and seven first place votes in this week's poll. The Orange secured 337 points and a first place vote to take second, while No. 3 BYU (327 points), No. 4 Oregon (315 points) and No. 6 Colorado (297 points) also received first place votes. Arkansas (298 points) sits ahead of the Buffaloes despite not receiving a first place vote.
It's the second-straight week five teams received a first place vote in the poll, which is the only two times it's happened in the history of the voting.
The ACC is again represented by four programs receiving votes. In addition to 'Cuse, Virginia checks in at No. 19 and NC State and Louisville are also receiving votes.
The Orange women moved down from No. 17 to 20 this week, collecting 113 votes. Providence again is this week's No. 1, with Colorado slightly behind in second. NC State is the highest ranked ACC program checking in third.
The women have four ACC programs in the top-28, with No. 22 Virginia and No. 28 Notre Dame falling in behind Syracuse.
The teams will next compete at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Presented Under Armour on Oct. 14.
