
Orange Ranked #14 in Preseason AP Poll

Matches highest rank in AP Poll in school history
NEW YORK – The Syracuse women's basketball team is ranked No. 14 in the country in the Preseason Associated Press Poll, as announced on Tuesday morning. It matches the highest Syracuse has been ranked in the AP Poll in program history.
The Orange were ranked No. 14 nationally in the AP Poll in each of the final three ranking releases of the 2015-16 campaign.
Syracuse is coming off its most successful season in its history, advancing all the way to the 2016 NCAA Tournament final. The Orange return four starters from a year ago, featuring 2017 Nancy Lieberman Award candidate Alexis Peterson and 2016 All-Final Four honoree Brittney Sykes.
The squad was one of five Atlantic Coast Conference programs ranked in the preseason AP Poll, joining No. 1 Notre Dame, No. 5 Louisville, No. 12 Florida State, and No. 14 Miami. Syracuse is slated to take on four nationally-ranked foes, with the possibility of playing two more in November's Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla.
The Orange open the season on Friday, Nov. 11 against Rhode Island. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. in the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome.
