Â
Home Court Advantage
Syracuse holds one of the strongest home court advantages in the nation. Under head coach Quentin Hillsman, the Orange own an 81-4 overall record against non-conference opposition at home.
Â
Prior to its loss against Arizona State on Dec. 12, 2015, SU had won 72 non-conference home games in-a-row, which was the longest active streak in the nation. Prior to its setback against the Sun Devils, the Orange's last home loss against a non-conference opponent came on Dec. 22, 2006.
Â
Since the 2010-11 season, Syracuse has played all of its home contests inside the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome. The Orange own a 133-51 (.723) overall record in the Loud House.
Â
All-America Candidate
Senior guard Alexis Peterson has proven that she is one of the elite guards in the nation. Peterson already has compiled an impressive list of accolades this year. She has collected Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors and was named to the watch lists for the Naismith Trophy, Nancy Lieberman Award, and Wade Trophy.
Â
Peterson has scored at least 20 points in each of the last four contests for Syracuse. The senior guard is averaging 26.3 points per game in that span. She now leads the conference and ranks eighth in the country in scoring on the 2016-17 campaign, averaging 22.8 points per contest.
Â
A Columbus, Ohio native, Peterson put together a spectacular showing against Ohio State at the Gulf Coast Showcase on Nov. 26. She notched a season-high 29 points, knocking down a career-best five 3-point field goals in the five-point loss.
Â
Peterson registered 28 points against Rhode Island on Nov. 11, 2015. She recorded the most points scored by a Syracuse player in a season opener since Chandrea Jones tallied 33 points at Siena in the first game of the 2008-09 campaign on Nov. 14, 2008.
Â
The senior guard is coming off a postseason to remember. In Syracuse's nine postseason contests, Peterson averaged 20.7 points per game. In the process, she led the team to its third conference tournament final in program history and the Orange's first national title game appearance.
