Butler, Day, and Peterson all earn honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three members of the Syracuse University women's basketball team earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference accolades from the league's coaches, the conference announced on Monday morning. Junior guard Alexis Peterson, senior guard Brianna Butler, and junior center Briana Day all earned postseason recognition.
Peterson collected her second All-ACC First Team honor of the 2015-16 season, after the Blue Ribbon Panel named her to their team last week. The Columbus, Ohio native also was named to the ACC All-Defensive Team for the second straight year.
Following the team's run to the ACC Tournament final, Peterson leads the team in scoring for the 2015-16 campaign, averaging 14.9 points per game. The junior guard also leads one of the nation's top defenses, averaging 2.29 steals per contest for the Orange. In the season opener at Rhode Island on Nov. 13, she set the program record with 10 steals.
Butler notched All-ACC Second Team accolades, her second all-conference honor of her collegiate career. The King of Prussia, Pa. native has hit a program-record 111 3-point field goals this season, which is the conference record. The senior guard has made 355 3-point field goals in her collegiate career, which ranks 16th in NCAA Division I history.
