ORANGE AMONG RARE COMPANY
Syracuse defeated NC State, 2-0, last Friday to improve its record to 5-0 this season. The Orange are one of nine schools that are undefeated through the first three weeks of the season. Three of the nine teams are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Â
NANCO PROVIDES OFFENSIVE SPARK
Senior Chris Nanco leads the Orange in scoring this season with eight points. He has four goals through five matches in 2016, which is just one shy of his career high of five, which he set as a sophomore in 2013. Three of Nanco's goals have been game winners, which tie him for first in the nation.
Â
SCOUTING THE PRIDE
Hofstra defeated Army, 1-0, on Saturday to snap a three-match winless streak. The Pride enter Tuesday's match with a 2-2-1 overall record, with both losses coming to teams ranked in the top 25. Joseph Holland is Hofstra's leading scorer with five points on a team-high two goals and one assist. Danny Elliott and Luke Brown have accounted for the Pride's other two goals this season. Goalkeepers Leonard Arkhanhelskyi and Alex Ashton have both seen time in net for Hofstra. Arkhanhelskyi has a 0.90 goals-against average and a .700 save percentage, while Ashton has a 3.19 goals-against average and a .333 save percentage.
Â
THE SERIES
Tuesday's match will be the second all-time meeting between Syracuse and Hofstra. The only previous match between the two schools took place in last year's season opener in Hempstead, N.Y. The Pride scored twice in a span of five-plus minutes before Oyvind Alseth converted a penalty kick to cut the deficit to one. The Orange couldn't score the equalizer as the Pride snapped Syracuse's 17-match non-conference winning streak.

UP NEXT…
Syracuse returns to ACC play on Friday, Sept. 16 when it hosts Boston College at 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. It will be a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament quarterfinal, which the Orange won, 1-0, to advance to the College Cup for the first time in school history.
