9/13/2016 12:26:00 PM | Cross Country
With a pair of team wins to start the season, the Syracuse men's cross country team stayed atop the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll in the first weekly ranking update of the 2016 season.
The Orange men were a unanimous selection as No. 1, the first time in program history that the team has been unanimously selected at No. 1 by a coaches vote. This is also just the second coaches poll where the Orange have been ranked No. 1 after earning the accolade in the preseason poll after also winning the 2015 NCAA Championship and finishing on top of the rankings last season.
In addition to the men's performance, the women stayed in the mix as well, falling back one spot to No. 16 after winning the Harry Lang Invitational and placing third at the Harry Groves Spiked shoe Invitational to start the season.
Behind the Syracuse men comes Oregon (338), Northern Arizona (327), Stanford (322) and Colorado (311). New Mexico stayed atop the women's poll once again.
Complete Polls
Both teams have the week off, before traveling to Virginia for the Panorama Farms Invitational on Friday, Sept. 23.
