Syracuse junior Justyn Knight, who earned USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors on Monday, kept the accolades coming on Tuesday, when he picked up ACC Performer of the Week honors.
The Orange standout won the Panorama Farms Invitational behind a course-record performance time of 23:18.8, which bested the previous time of 23:15.2, which former teammate Martin Hehir set at the 2014 ACC Championship. The meet was Knight's first race of the 2016 season.
The Vaughan, Ontario native used a late kick to overcome an eight second deficit at the 5k mark to Campbell's Lawrence Kipkoech, clearing the final 3,000-meters 24 seconds ahead of the field to win by almost a full-16 seconds in his first race of 2016.
Knight was 'Cuse's top finisher during its 2015 NCAA Championship win, taking fourth overall and earn his first All-America honors in cross country. He's also been a two-time All-American in outdoor track and earned All-America status during his only season of indoor competition last season.
The No. 2 Orange finished second at the meet to No. 4 BYU and will next race at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Presented by Under Armour on Oct. 14.
