
Orange Score Four in Third Period to Sweep Penn State

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Entering the third period, the Syracuse women's hockey team needed a comeback after falling behind, 1-0, to Penn State in the second period. The Orange answered with four goals in the final period to secure a 4-1 win over the Nittany Lions.
After being held scoreless through the first two periods, Allie Munroe buried a shot to even up the score just 37 seconds into the period. A little over a minute later, Laurence Porlier scored the eventual game-winner.
Munroe scored her second goal of the day to give the Orange an insurance goal and Brooke Avery tacked on another on an empty Penn State net just before the end of the game.
The Orange improve to 6-2-2 in CHA play and 7-10-5 overall with the win, while Penn State drops to 4-5-1 in conference play and 5-15-4 overall. 'Cuse remains in second place in CHA standings, but is now only three points behind first-place Robert Morris.
Syracuse will be back in action on Jan. 20 and 21 at Lindenwood. The two teams have met already this season and the Orange shut out the Lions in both games, 4-0. The next home games for Syracuse will be on Jan. 27 and 28 when Robert Morris comes to town.
