
Peterson on Naismith Top 30 List

Peterson leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring
ATLANTA – Senior guard Alexis Peterson of the Syracuse women's basketball team has been named to the 2017 Naismith Trophy Top 30 list, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Wednesday morning. Since 1983, the Naismith Trophy has been presented annually to the top collegiate player in the country.
The 10 semifinalists for the 2017 Naismith Trophy will be announced on March 2.
A child and family studies major in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, Peterson has continued to add to her already impressive list of accolades this season. She is a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, on the midseason watch lists for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, Dawn Staley Award, and Wooden Award, and recognized on the Wade Trophy watch list.
A Columbus, Ohio native, Peterson currently averages 23.7 points, 7.2 assists, and 3.3 steals per contest. She currently leads the conference in scoring and ranks second in the league in assists and steals. Peterson ranks third in program history with 1,775 points scored in her collegiate career, as well.
Peterson and the No. 20/19 Orange take on No. 14/15 Duke in a top-25 showdown on Friday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C. The game will be available on ACC Network Extra.
