Peterson Tabbed to WBCA All-America Team

Sykes named an All-America Honorable Mention
ATLANTA – Senior guard Alexis Peterson of the Syracuse women's basketball team was named to the 2017 Women's Basketball Coaches Assocation (WBCA) Division I Coaches All-America Team, as announced on Saturday night.
Redshirt senior guard Brittney Sykes earned WBCA Division I Coaches All-America Honorable Mention accolades, becoming the program's fifth All-American. It marks the first time that two members of the Orange earned All-America plaudits in the same season.
Peterson was recognized at a ceremony at the 2017 NCAA Women's Final Four in Dallas on Saturday night. The 10-member team was selected following an in-person meeting of the selection committee held during the 2017 WBCA National Convention.
It marks Peterson's third All-America honor for the 2016-17 campaign, as she collected Associated Press All-America Second Team and espnW All-America Honorable Mention recognition.
A child and family studies major in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, Peterson set the Syracuse single-season scoring and assists records en route to 2017 Blue Ribbon Panel Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year honors. She capped her career ranked second in program history in scoring (1,978) and as the all-time leader in assists (590).
A graduate student seeking her Master's degree in instructional design, development, and evaluation in the School of Education, Sykes was named to the 2017 All-ACC First Team by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches. She finished her career ranked third in school history with 1,846 points scored.
